Lorenz Rhode

We've been playing Lorenz Rhode tracks in our sets consistently for the past year. His funky basslines are built for the dancefloor and his production never fails to impress. In his own words:

"Imagine Rick James dating Chaka Khan, dancing to Daft Punk and Technotronic, making sweet love to a Stevie Wonder ballad, when suddenly a group of German robots and a Yellow Magic Orchestra come rushing into the hotel suite and ... they all decide to go to France instead."

While his original work is also fantastic, today I'm going to focus on three of his remixes. Lets first start with the track we've played the most, his remix of Strip Steve's Breakin'. I loved the original, but this remix is just soooo funky:

Now for my favorite of his remixes. This one was released back in June 2010.. but you may have heard it recently in Russ Chimes' new mixtape. Same formula, same great results:

Moullinex - Superman (Lorenz Rhode Remix) by LorenzRhode

And finally.. Here is his newest remix (released Oct 2010),  a mix of Yelle's La Musique:

I hate Monday

Monday never fails to be the worst day of the week - So here is some music to help us make it through to Tuesday!

Lets start things off with a really unique combination...Crystal Castles and Robert Smith. Crystal Castles exploded onto the scene a few years ago and quickly grabbed attention thanks to their unique 8 bit sound and wild punk energy. Add Robert Smith, the lead signer of legendary band The Cure... And we have ourselves one heck of a collaboration.

Crystal Castles "Not In Love" (ftrg. Robert Smith)

I absolutely love Aeroplane... Their production and remix work is really some of the best around, period. The Krays have really done a fantastic job re-working their track "Superstar"... No real surprise, as the Krays are duo Yuksek and Brodinski - both excellent producers.

Aeroplane - Superstar (The Krays Remix)

Light Year completely blew me away with their Bag Raiders remix last year - And their latest track "Five Girls" is just nuts. Like so much of their production, I'm sure it will destroy dancefloors... and hopefully will destroy your Monday!

And lets end things off with Boy Noize's latest single "Yeah". I'm sure you have all heard this by now.. It's fantastic.. and sounds amazing on a club system.

Random Goodness

Wanted to share a selection of tracks that have been floating my boat this week.

The Scissor Sisters have been getting remixed by some massive producers.. And the Carte Blanche remix of Any Which Way is some big house fun:

18 Scissor Sisters - Any Which Way (Carte Blanche Remix) by Le Paradoxe

Kap10Kurt is a master of the keys, and his remix of French Horn Rebellion is a real delight:

French Horn Rebellion - This moment (Kap10Kurt remix) by Sainted PR

Don't have to play this one on a Friday... but it sure helps! Big track from two super producers, Jesse Rose and Riva Starr:

Jesse Rose & Riva Starr - Start the Weekend by Made to Play

A new beast from Zombie Nation. He makes some really gritty tracks, that always feel dirty and raw. Don't be fooled by his most famous track!:

Zombie Nation - OVERSHOOT (Original) by zombie nation

Shit Robot... Great name, great sound:

Shit Robot - Take 'Em Up by BL?ND

There is something about some of the amazing sounds that Screendeath produces... They make me want to go nuts! Some very big names on remix duty too.

New GMGN Remixes: Werewolf By Night + Simian Mobile Disco

It’s been way to long since our last blog post… So going to make up for that by sharing two brand new GMGN remixes.

First up is a remix of our friend Werewolf by Night. Wolfie has a knack for making beautiful synth driven beasts.. and Golden Blonde was no exception. I fell in love with the original the moment I first heard it and knew instantly that I wanted to make a remix of it.  My goal was to capture the essence of the original track while adding a little GMGN flavor.

Definitely take some time to listen to some of Werewolf’s other work: Werewolf by Night on Myspace

We are huge fans of Simian Mobile Disco. For any Synthesizer lover, their production and live show is a real treat. "Cruel Intentions" from their temporary pleasure was one of the stand out tracks, thanks to the great vocals of Beth Ditto.

Enjoy.. and stay tuned for more new music!
